Violin Recital

There is a really great music ministry here that I just became aware of.  It is a Violin Institute for the less fortunate.  We went to their annual recital.  It was amazing!!
We had been talking a another family here in town one day and they mentioned that they were going to a violin recital.  Well I love the violin so I said that we'd love to tag along.  They graciously said they'd love for us to so we did!!  Here we are sitting and waiting for it to start.
This is one of the 3 American girls who come every year.
Basically how it works is this, as you can see from the picture above there are a bunch of violins that the school owns.  They have set times for lessons and then there are set times when they can come use the violins.
The violins never go home with the kids, and they do have to pay a monthly fee.  With a scholarship (which the institute can provide with donations) the students only have to pay about a dollar a month to take weekly lessons.  They say that these students do better in school and it keeps them out of trouble on the nights when the school offers practice times.
We enjoyed the concert very much.  The kids were quite good.  The girls were of course freezing so they shared my shawl.
And afterwards there were some snacks.  I'm not sure what all the snacks were but several of the plates were covered in ants before all the snacks were taken.  But no worries, just brush them off and eat them anyway.
