The mundane

These are pictures of things that we do quite frequently here in Panama. But if we don't document the regular, then we might think that our lives are full of the excitment of the beach and the mountains. And that's just not what we do all the time. So here they are.
This is a picture of Marcela and Grandpa at the grocery store. Marcela was being so wiggly that Grandpa promised to pay her a dollar if she would sit still for I think 3 min. Well, she surprised us all and sat quite well and earned herself a dollar. So the next day we made a trip to the Supermercado Rey so that she could buy herself some candy. AND SHE SHARED HALF OF IT WITH HARMONY!!! (we didn't even tell her to.)

This is a special store. It is really close to the church where Reggie teaches. It is called Mini Super Corozal. But we all call it the Chinese Garden or Chinese Market. It's not a super nice store according to US standards, but they sell amazing fruit and vegetables. Back when the US was in Panama and the canal was younger, this store existed, but it was owned by a Chinese man who indeed had a garden behind the store. And he would sell only what he grew. Hence the name, Chinese Garden. He has since passed away and it has fallen into the wonderful hands of his granddaughter who does not sell what she grows (She buys it from someone else). She is the woman who runs the store now. I actually don't even know her name, and I don't think she knows ours, but if we are ever short money, she will say tomorrow, and we bring her what we lack later. A wonderful wonderful family. (Actually they live in the store, they sleep in the part to the left and their living room is the main part of the store, they sit on chairs and watch tv when it is slow.)
