Obo Manobo Dedication part 5
The final installment of the dedication is the actual dedication. We loved this man above. Such a mixture of the old and the new, the traditional dress and sunglasses!!
The ceremony was wonderful but long and not in a language we spoke. It wasn't easy for the kids and we took turns walking them around outside. There was some really neat dancing! And several singing groups. The man that let L touch his beaded clothes is in the above picture with the bright yellow on towards the left.
And these two women are the translators! What a day for them. We have no idea how much work goes into this and how long it takes. They have devoted years and years to this work. What a bittersweet day! The end of something so great! But yet just the beginning for many who bought those Words!
And I must be honest, this simple (poorly taken photo- by me) makes me a little tear eyed. This is the table where people purchased a copy of the Bible in their own language!!!! What a treat! We too purchased a copy, no I can't read it and I don't plan on ever learning the language (never say never right?!!?). But honestly, it's a wonderful treat to have been at such a monumental event.
